“A Birthday Tribute to Grace Goodhue Coolidge”

A Birthday Tribute to Grace Goodhue Coolidge

Dr. Fran Becque, leading fan of Mrs. Coolidge and fraternity historian, has offered a fine tribute to one of the most gracious and beloved First Ladies (or the “National Hugger,” as she once laughingly called herself) ever to occupy the White House. Today marks the 134th Anniversary of her birth in Burlington, Vermont, to Andrew and Lemira Goodhue. Even to those of us who know her only from a distance in time and place, we love and miss her greatly. Happy Birthday, Mrs. Coolidge!

“Silent Cal: A Public Role Model”

“Silent Cal: A Public Role Model”

This excellent piece by College Conservative Alex Uzarowicz defines in cogent terms why overlooking Coolidge and his accomplishments deprives us of the immense benefit of Coolidge’s humble example of service. It was a model Americans expected in 1928 and which is glaringly absent now. Coolidge’s platform resonates not only because it succeeded so well but because it demonstrated how our Founding principles work. The governing principles of “Silent Cal” remain a winning message going into 2016.

David Pietrusza on the John Batchelor Show, November 12, 2013

A belated but enthusiastic recommendation of a great thirty minutes with two of the Coolidge grandchildren, Mrs. Harville and Mr. Jeter, followed by scholar David Pietrusza, as they walk through family memories and then discuss Coolidge’s incredible record and Mr. Pietrusza’s latest book, Calvin Coolidge: A Documentary Biography, presenting Coolidge’s life through major documents, the addresses, articles, writings and statements by and about our thirtieth president. Well worth a listen!
